It will be okay!

Things will be alright. Even if the place is a mess, you’ve got no clean clothes left, and you can’t remember the last time you sat down to a civilized meal.

It takes time to get the hang of this parenting thing. And that’s fine. You have a big job and it is no easy task. But it is probably one of the most important things you will ever do! Your goal? To grow your child into a functional and responsible adult.

We all get caught up in the “here and now” and forget that big picture – the long-term goal. Sometimes people say they can’t see the wood for the trees. For we mums it is more accurate to say we can’t see a child’s potential because of the teething / the sleepless nights / the tantrums/ the [insert whatever thing you are managing right now]!

This blog is very new. I plan to make it a safe space where mums can come to learn from others, be encouraged, be motivated, be strengthened to go another day with renewed hope, and be empowered to be a great mum – no matter what is going on.

Want to share the ride? All mums – young and old – are welcome to join the conversation! You are loved, treasured and valued.

It is early days yet, but things are moving along! From the end of November 2016 I’ve chatted to Scottie Haas on the Breakfast Show every Friday morning, sometime between 8:15 and 8:45, on Hobart’s ultra106five.com

It is a radio station I’ve been associated with for nearly ten years now, and Scott is a good friend. Together he and I talk about some of the particular things we mothers have to face – and not just mothers – most of the time we explore issues that relate to everyone!

The blogs here are the written version of the interviews. I hope you enjoy them. And do keep a watch out for my new website Treasuring Mothers, due for launch in early 2017!

Hugs from me

Jenny
